Cockroaches are known to be quickly multiplying pests you can find. If you have a few roaches, they can easily transform into a major problem in no time at all. If you have an infestation of cockroaches in your home, you will most likely have people tell you all kinds of crazy remedies to get them out of the way. However, there are a lot of myths and misconceptions floating around about these bothersome insects and dissecting fact from fiction is not always easy. Here are a few of the most common misconceptions about getting rid of cockroaches in the home.
Misconception: A clean home will not have roaches.
It may be true that a home that is kept spic and span will not attract as many cockroaches, but someone with a clean home can have roaches just the same. These bugs can survive on very little. They can go days without water and feed off of everything from human hair to the glue on an envelope seal. You can clean all day, everyday, and roaches will still find a way to survive.
Misconception: Cockroaches will leave if you freeze them out.
Sure, you could try to freeze the cockroaches out of your home because they do prefer warmer, humid climates. However, this would most likely take days, if not weeks, to accomplish. Cockroaches are sometimes referred to as the most resilient bugs on earth. They can make it through just about anything. The cold temperatures will make them want to go in search for a heat source, but the cold alone will not kill them off. Furthermore, it is usually not feasible to leave a home completely in freezing temperatures for days on end.
Misconception: Cockroaches are afraid of humans so just make your presence known.
There is really no way to tell what an insect is thinking, but the reason they scatter when you come home for the night usually has nothing to do with just your presence in the room of fear of being swatted. Cockroaches are actually nocturnal. Therefore, they will come out when there is low light in your home. If you come home, flip on the light, and see them run, it is most likely because they do not like the light.
If you have a problem with cockroaches in your home, you cannot always rely on the advice of others to get rid of them. The best way to eliminate a cockroach problem is by contacting professional pest control services such as Metro Exterminating for help.Share
